Leyland P76: Anything but Average is the story of the design and development of the Leyland P76. It has extensive interviews with key people involved, including Peter North, the company's last Australian Managing Director, Barry Anderson, Graham Hardy, Roger Foy and Reg Fulford.
This book covers the gestation of the Leyland P76, through the Austin and Morris years, through the development and production of the Leyland P76. This book also looks at the interesting concept cars, the mighthavebeens from Leyland including the Force 7 coupe and the P82.
As if that is not enough, there are chapters on the P76 in competition, the Elfin Formula 5000 that used the P76 V8 engine as its basis, the Ilinga AF2 and possibly the world's only Austin V8.
Leyland P76: Anything but Average is a book of 224 pages and is available in two formats: standard hard bound edition at rrp $85 (plus p&h) and a special leather bound edition that will be numbered and signed at rrp $225 (plus p&h); both editions will include a copy of the comparative booklet that Leyland published at the time.

What a fantastic book. Your hard work has provided us with a definitive history of our beloved car. I will be recommending your book to everyone. You have produced a quality book for anyone who is interested in Australia's best classic car.David Walker, secretary, Leyland P76 Owners Club of Victoria
I have just finished reading your book on the Leyland P76 from cover to cover. I enjoyed it immensely and I'd like to congratulate you not only for the quality of the writing but also for your impressive research. Although I count myself as a 'petrol head' I learned much about the Australian car industry that was new to me, especially about the postwar activities and products of BMCA.Ian Webber OA, former Managing Director, Chrysler Australia Ltd
This is a book that is very easy to recommendwith informative, well researched text and a bootload of rare photographs (many of which I've never seen before). It even comes with a reprint of Leyland's contemporary booklet, Leyland P76: Comparative Information. It's definitely anything but average!Allan Walton, editor, New Zealand Classic Car
This is a large format hardcover book delivering a balanced look at the car and the company behind it. The author pulls no punches in a frank assessment of the P76's vices as well as its many virtues. Definitely recommended reading, not only for P76 enthusiasts, but also for anyone with an interest in Australia's motoring history and industrial heritage.Col Gardner, contributor, Australian Classic Car
